Welcome to “What’s Your Story in the New Normal?”– a captivating series where we delve into the insights of diverse professionals navigating through the ever-evolving landscape of their industries. In these enlightening 30-minute interviews, we explore the triumphs, challenges, and inspiring journeys of accomplished individuals, offering a unique perspective on how they’ve adapted and thrived in the face of change. Episode #25Kip Meyerhoff started his career with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in 1964 and retired after 21 years of service in 1985. After LAPD, Kip owned and operated a security and private investigation agency in Los Angeles for about 10 years. Taking all the experiences and stories he gathered from his years in law enforcement and as a PI, he subsequently became an author.Kip currently has 3 books in publication. His first book, Cooking with Kip, describes how he grew up in hotels in New York with his "gangster" father. He learned about the restaurant business and became very successful in it.Kip's second book, Deadwood and Beyond, introduces the character, Rollo Michaels, a private investigator. Kip just published his second book in the Rollo Michaels series, The Big Vinnie Chronicles. Episode #24Back in the early 1980s, Kevin Jordan left his home state, Queens, New York, and moved across the country to Los Angeles, California. He did not know anyone and was looking for a job when he was hired by the Los Angeles Police Department in 1982.While on the LAPD, he started performing at "open mics" at various comedy clubs and found his true passion in making people laugh. After only 5 years with the LAPD, he quit his job as a police officer and became a professional comedian traveling and performing all over the world. He has performed over 5000 shows in his 30 year career.In addition to stand up comedy, Kevin has also written a book, "When the Streetlights Came On." A story about growing up in Queens, New York. Episode #23Kyle Toliver was one of the first group of female police officers that joined the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) after it was ordered to hire females and minorities and to lower the height requirement to 5 foot. Kyle initially started as a civilian employee of the LAPD but was recruited to come onto the LAPD as a sworn officer. Kyle discusses the ups and downs she endured while on the LAPD but she was able to successfully retire from the LAPD after a long and exciting career working various assignments in the city of Los Angeles. She was one of the first officers that worked the Narcotic Under Cover Buy Program in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Years later, TV show, 21 Jump Street, was created to depict what the Narcotic Under Cover Buy Program was about. She retired as a Detective 2/ Sergeant 2 after 28 years of service as a sworn police office and 5 years as a civilian employee for a total of 33 years.I am an entrepreneur, health and wellness consultant, public speaker, licensed private investigator, and former LAPD lieutenant. He served as a District Attorney Investigator for the San Bernardino County DA's Office for 12 1/2 years and let at the rank of Sr. DA Investigator. With his 33 years of law enforcement experience is became a published author and just released his first book, "Gangster, Narcotics, Homicide: Protecting the Thin Blue Line.The book chronicles the career of Sgt. Landrum from his childhood to being sworn-in as a Los Angeles Police Officer. It's a true story about street life in Los Angeles and career survival within the LAPD. During the earlier eighties and nineties, gang violence, narcotics, and homicides impacted the city of Los Angeles. This books focuses on the struggle to maintain peace and calm, as well as, the lack of true leadership during some junctures of his career. There were officer-involved-shootings, internal complaint investigations and civil unrest that encompassed his career. Towards the end of his career, LAPD was served with a Federal Consent Decree.
